The best way to create a t-shirt design.

The best way to create a t-shirt design.

As you can see many times on the street, a lot of people are engaged in creating their own T-shirts. Individualism reigns in fashion, so the masses want to stand out. Unique clothing is one of the easiest ways to be noticed. On a t-shirt, sweatshirt or sweater you can find a quote from your favorite movie, a cult meme or a theme that will be understood only by a specific group.

Not only people who want to catch the eye in the crowd decide to design clothes on their own. This is a great way to promote your brand, stand out on the market and increase sales. In addition, unusual prints are often used in the B2C (Business to Consumer) sector, where, apart from acquiring new customers, strengthening relationships with existing ones is important. Another place where you can see unique textiles are fairs, conferences, etc.

Custom t shirt printing should not be a problem even for those who have no experience. How to make a design for a t-shirt? It depends a lot on the theme itself. It takes less time and effort to create a pattern composed of text, while complex graphics will be more difficult to develop. The original motif for a T-shirt can be designed in the appropriate program. Some can be downloaded from the web for free, such as CorelDraw, which is distinguished by the number of functions. Others, however, are available at a certain price. They may have special tools for creating T-shirts or an intuitive interface (Adobe Illustrator, T-Shirt Factory Deuxe). For beginners, it is often enough to process the theme in a program such as Canva.

Which T-shirt printing method do you think is the best?

The best and most durable printed advertising clothing? This question defies a simple yes or no response. However, one thing is certain, everyone is after the same effect – the print must be durable and bravely endure each subsequent washing.

In the era of various textile printing techniques, it is difficult to quickly find one that will perfectly meet our needs. However, hey – that’s probably why you’re reading our text now, in which we will look at the most durable printing techniques.

Screen printing – the leader in the durability of the print on the T-shirt

We have already written about this traditional technique with the longest experience in our previous post. The popular screen printing is undoubtedly the most popular and most frequently chosen method of printing on various types of textiles. We can screen print surfaces such as: polyester and cotton materials, as well as glass, paper, ceramics and wood. An additional advantage is the whole palette of unusual effects. What do we mean by that? Do you dream of a neon, silver or gold print? Screen printing makes such dreams come true without any problems. This most durable method, however, requires one design for the entire run and is not suitable for marking on fleece.

Thermal transfer

Properly implemented printing using this method, using good quality foil, appropriate temperature and welding time, should guarantee resistance to damage and washing of the material. The production costs of T-shirts using the thermal transfer technique are relatively low, which is why it is recommended for low-volume projects.

Do you care about the exact reproduction of the graphic design on the T-shirt? Voila – you couldn’t find a better place. For what projects do we use sublimation ? For example, when printing photos on fabrics. The print made with this method is famous for its durability, flexibility and good color reproduction. The disadvantage is certainly the limitations in terms of material selection. In this case, dreams of cotton T-shirts are put aside and we focus on polyester or a material with its admixture. As for the color – very bright colors work best here.

DTG – digital printing

Here the situation is simpler – the pattern in the form of raster graphics is applied to the textiles selected by us using a digital printer. The pattern applied with DTG printing will certainly be perfectly reproduced, in full color, tonal transitions will also be preserved.

However, we must remember that it is not only about choosing the right printing method, but also about the quality of the media. A t-shirt , sweatshirt or other surface must be of good quality – otherwise even screen printing will not help and the graphics will be damaged, perforated or faded. What to pay attention to? Mostly grammar. Sometimes it’s best to research the subject empirically, look in the wardrobe and compare your favorite shirts.
